Nuno Felt Scarf Workshop- AM

This event is no longer on sale.

Saturday November 6

9:30 AM  –  12:30 PM

The Nuno felt scarf is a featherweight creation, but it is strong and has a totally unique surface design. Using the wet felting technique, wool fibers are fused with a silk gauze fabric to create a scarf that takes on an ‘elephant skin’ texture. You will make this scarf in a half day workshop, but you will learn a technique that can be used for making fabric that can be sewn into other wearables. This workshop is designed for beginners and requires gentle, repetitive, upper arm movement. All supplies are provided. Students are requested to bring a small towel for drying their finished scarf.

Instructor bio: Gail Maraman's interest in fiber art began when she first started caring for a small flock of sheep. She quickly became fascinated with dyeing and transforming her sheep's wool into practical, and sometimes whimsical, felt designs. She has studied numerous felting techniques, including traditional wet felting, needle felting, and Nuno felting, as well as techniques for using both natural and synthetic dyes with natural fibers.
