To My Best Girl by Steve Magnusen tells the story of the courtship of Rufus and Mary Dawes, parents to Dawes Arboretum co-founder Beman Dawes, while Rufus was Lieutenant Colonel of the Civil War's 6th Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry. The author will share more about his book and the years-long research he conducted at The Arboretum's archives. Civil War artifacts belonging toi Rufus will be on display and books will be available for purchase.
